Aces sign two-time MVP A’ja Wilson to two-year extension

The Las Vegas Aces signed two-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson to a two-year contract extension on Friday, keeping the former No. 1 overall pick in the fold through 2025.

Wilson, 26, averaged 19.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.1 blocks while leading the Aces to their first WNBA title last season, It was her sixth season with the team since being drafted in 2018.

Along with winning the league championship in 2022, Wilson took home her second MVP and her first WNBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

“A’ja Wilson is a generational talent and a huge foundational piece to our team and organization,” Aces general manager Natalie Williams said in a team release. “We are thrilled to have her re-sign and be here in Las Vegas for the next two years.”

A five-time WNBA All-Star, including this season, Wilson has been a guiding force for the 14-1 Aces.

In 164 career games (163 starts) over six seasons with the Aces, she has averaged 19.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks.

“When the Aces made me their first-ever draft pick, they entrusted me with a lot,” Wilson said. “I’m happy to still be in Las Vegas, winning games, playing at a high level, but also being a part of a community that has embraced me and my teammates over the past six years, and made this city a second home for me.”
