Women’s basketball power South Carolina visits North Carolina and the Duke men’s team travels to Arkansas in headlining matchups for the inaugural ACC-SEC Challenge.
The South Carolina women posted a 36-1 record last season, losing to Iowa in a Final Four thriller. The Gamecocks face the Tar Heels on the final night of the three-day showcase, Thursday, Nov. 30, in a month that also includes a game in Paris against Notre Dame (Nov. 6).
For 23 years, the Big Ten and ACC staged the ACC-Big Ten challenge in late November or early December. The new cross-conference showcase will feature 28 games each season across men’s and women’s basketball and expand to 30 games when Texas and Oklahoma officially join the SEC in 2025.
South Carolina went 16-0 in the SEC last season and demolished national champion LSU, 88-64.
In the late game Nov. 30, the Tigers (34-2 last season) draw Virginia Tech in a rematch of their Final Four game in which LSU trailed by nine entering the fourth quarter.
All women’s games are played Nov. 29-30 starting with Notre Dame-Tennessee and Florida-Georgia Tech.
The men’s matchups are Nov. 28-29 and include Miami at Kentucky and Clemson at Alabama on opening night.
Tennessee at North Carolina and Duke at Arkansas are among the Wednesday matchups.
The Blue Devils and Razorbacks met in the 2022 Elite Eight and 1994 national championship game.
