According to a recent allegation, Herschel Walker, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Georgia who has passionately opposed abortion rights, paid for his girlfriend’s abortion in 2009. The candidate threatened to file a lawsuit and labeled the claim a “flat-out lie.”
In an interview with The Daily Beast, the ex-girlfriend requested that her identity not be revealed for her privacy reasons. An abortion receipt showing her $575 payment was examined, along with a get-well card from Walker and her bank deposit records displaying an image of a $700 personal check from Walker dated five days after the abortion receipt.
According to The Daily Beast, the lady claimed Walker persuaded her to terminate the pregnancy by stating that the time wasn’t suitable for a child. In light of the Supreme Court decision earlier this year that limited a woman’s constitutional right to seek abortion services, Walker has portrayed abortion as “a woman killing her baby” and has emphasized his opposition to the process while running for office.
It’s important to note that some states have different laws to obtain abortions for women dependant on the circumstances.
