A Quiet Place Part II earns more than $100m in Canada and America

The sequel of A Quiet Place has earned more than $100 million at the box office in the U.S. and Canada. This is the first post pandemic film to be released in theaters. Crossing $100 million will give other cinema theaters owners and distributors, who have faced huge losses during the pandemic lockdowns, some cheer. The movie, which was originally slated to release last year, finally debuted on Friday, May 28, 2021.

The film was released on Memorial Day. It crossed the box office benchmark in two weeks. In pre-pandemic times, this would probably go almost unnoticed except for a small announcement but it is the first picture from Paramount to be released after the pandemic and this $100 million feat is a big milestone considering the more than a year-long woes of the movie industry.

The movie A Quiet Place 2 is a sequel to John Kransinki’s hit A Quiet Place that was released in 2018. It earned $109 million in the U.S. and Canada and $90 million overseas. These figures are less that earlier revenues from popular movies as the milieu has changed.

Older moviegoers are reluctant to return to the movies and the younger ones watch movies on streaming services as some movies are now streaming on the same day that they are released in cinema theaters. The sequel A Quiet Place 2 will also be available on streaming platforms 45 days from its release on Paramount+.

The sequel follows the original story. The Abbott family has to survive against all odds in silence. Evelyn, Regan and Marcus have survived at the end of the original movie and have to be ready to take on the aliens.

Emily Blunt stars as Evelyn in the movie and Millicent Simmonds returns as Regan. The movie is set in a quiet world. Humans have already been hunted to almost extinction. Predatory blind aliens are in the process of hunting down the remaining few humans.

The aliens use sound to detect humans as this faculty is highly developed in them. so, the few humans who are left have to stay very quiet to remain undetected.

Sources say that A Quiet Place 3 will be produced sometime in 2023.
