A dozen special operations soldiers are allegedly involved in a drug trafficking investigation at Fort Bragg. An inquiry into illegal drug use at Fort Bragg led to the questioning of more than a dozen Special Ops troops who were part of the command unit.
According to reports, the event involved questioning fifteen troops from the United States Army Special Operations Command at the Fort Bragg post over the course of the weekend.
Fort Bragg is situated in what the Department of Justice refers to as Corridor H, an area of eight different states where drugs, notably fentanyl, are actively trafficked. I-95, a roadway that runs from Miami to Houlton, Maine, is included in the corridor.
Two of the fifteen soldiers serving under USASOC were “cleared of any misconduct,” according to Lt. Col. Michael Burns, a spokesperson for the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. All fifteen soldiers deployed under USASOC were questioned and released to their command.
In a press release Lt. Col. Burns said, “The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to probe “drug involvement” from soldiers at Fort Bragg” “We take all allegations seriously and are fully cooperating with the Criminal Investigation Division.”
“Illegal activity by any member of the Special Operations Forces community undermines everything we stand for as an organization,” a statement from Special Operations Command said. “As a professional and disciplined force, we are committed to addressing harmful behaviors that affect our people our most important asset and upholding the high standards of conduct displayed by the vast majority of SOF members every day.”
At this time, no arrests or charges have been made.
