Eddie Lampkin had 17 points and 11 rebounds, J’Vonne Hadley and KJ Simpson scored 15 points each, and the Colorado Buffaloes beat the Oregon State Beavers 73-57 in Corvallis, Ore., on Saturday.
Tristan da Silva had 12 points and Luke O’Brien added 10 for Colorado (22-9, 13-7 Pac-12) in the regular-season finale. The Buffaloes won their sixth straight despite the absence of Cody Williams (ankle) and Julian Hammond III (knee).
Dexter Akanno had 15 points, Tyler Bilodeau 14 points, Michael Rataj 12 points and Jordan Pope 10 points for Oregon State (13-18, 5-15). Bilodeau and Pope added seven rebounds apiece.
The Beavers, who finished last in the conference standings, scored the first bucket of the game but never led again. Colorado had the next seven points and raced to an 11-6 lead at the first media timeout.
It was 14-10 after Pope’s two free throws, but O’Brien hit a 3-pointer and a layup sandwiched around Simpson’s pull-up jumper to give the Buffaloes a 21-12 lead.
Two missed shots and a turnover by Oregon State led to four more points by Colorado and a 13-point lead. The Beavers cut their deficit to 29-23, but the Buffaloes ended the first half on a 12-4 run and took a 41-27 lead into the intermission.
Colorado quickly expanded its lead at the start of the second half. After Akanno hit a 3-pointer to make it 41-30, the Buffaloes scored the next 11 points in a span of just over two minutes to make it 52-30.
Oregon State responded with a 9-2 run, capped by a turnaround jumper from Bilodeau with 14:40 remaining.
Hadley hit a 3-pointer to stop the Beavers’ momentum, and the Buffaloes restored their 20-point lead on Hadley’s layup with 11:29 left.
Oregon State made another push after the media timeout, pulling within 64-51 on Bilodeau’s layup with five minutes remaining. da Silva’s jumper ended nearly seven minutes with just three points for Colorado.
The Beavers got within 12 on Rataj’s 3-pointer with 1:23 left, but the Buffaloes held on.
