The New Bugatti Centodieci Three Dimensional Design

CWEB.com Inc. is and authorized media publisher for Bugatti Inc.

Exceptional design and vast power have been the hallmark features of Bugatti vehicles for around 110 years. The French manufacturer of hyper sports cars now consistently pursues this path further with the new special-edition Centodieci. In addition, Bugatti is echoing its recent history with an exclusive and extraordinary small series.

“With the Centodieci, we pay homage to the EB110 super sports car which was built in the 1990s and is very much a part of our tradition-steeped history,” says Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti. “With the EB110, Bugatti catapulted itself to the top of the automotive world once again after 1956 with a new model.” It was a crucial interim step for the production facility that was newly founded in Molsheim in 1998, taking Bugatti back to its roots in France, and the first hyper sports car of modern times — the Veyron.

“We are proud of our long Bugatti history, of which the EB110 is very much a part. That’s why we’re celebrating a reinterpretation of this extraordinary vehicle with the Centodieci — Italian for 110,” says Stephan Winkelmann. The EB110 was built in Campogalliano, Italy, but from the very outset it never denied its French influences. Former owner Romano Artioli opened the factory on Ettore Bugatti’s 109th  birthday — 15 September 1990. Artioli made a deliberate choice in opting for Campogalliano, a small town in Emilia Romagna. The location had a key advantage in the 1990s: it was in the catchment area of several Italian sports car brands, so Artioli was easily able to recruit experienced employees for his project. Artioli presented the super sports car EB110 to the public on Ettore Bugatti’s 110th  birthday — hence the type designation: EB for Ettore Bugatti, 110 for his 110th  birthday.

New three-dimensional design

There are many areas in which the new special-edition Bugatti Centodieci echoes the former super sports car of the 1990s. “The challenge was not to allow oneself to be captivated too much by the design of the historic vehicle and work solely in retrospect, but instead to create a modern interpretation of the shape and technology of that time,” says Achim Anscheidt, Head Designer at Bugatti. Even sportier and more extreme than the Bugatti  Chiron2  and  Divo3  hyper sports cars, yet elegant and timeless like the  La Voiture Noire4, it is a one-of-a-kind Bugatti for the enthusiast.

“We faced a number of technical challenges in terms of the development and design of the Centodieci,” says Achim Anscheidt. The EB110 is a very flat, wedge-shaped and graphically quasi two-dimensional super sports car of the late 1980s. “Transporting this classic look into the new millennium without copying it was technically complex, to say the least. We had to create a new way of combining the complex aerothermal requirements of the underlying Chiron technology with a completely different aesthetic appearance.”

The flat, horseshoe-shaped radiator at the front reveals its depth only from the side view, with the newly developed, deep-seated front spoiler and the three-section air intakes providing a perfect match. The front of the Centodieci drops very low. The iconic Bugatti horseshoe has been reduced accordingly, while the Bugatti logo Macaron sits on the hood, which is interrupted at the centre by a black element. “This allowed us to rekindle memories of EB110,” says Achim Anscheidt. The optimised front section with the extended front splitter and the airflow through the hood further improve the car’s aerodynamics.

The front is subordinated to the generally low geometry of the vehicle, despite its original, predominant cooling surface. The newly developed, complex and very narrow headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights provide the perfect match. Thanks to the newly developed lighting elements, we were stylistically free in the front and rear sections to pay respectful homage to the EB110 while at the same time transposing this appealing visual reminiscence into modern technology,” says Achim Anscheidt.

“We incorporated the wedge-shaped design in the development process but we took it in a new direction,” says the designer. Instead of copying the classic Italian wedge in which the muscle runs from the rear to the front wheel, suggesting a dynamic leap forward, Bugatti strikes out on a new path in the Centodieci. The otherwise dominant Bugatti line, the C line on the B pillar, gives way to a new design Significantly smaller than the  Chiron2, five round air inserts — positioned in the form of a diamond — ensure sufficient air intake for the iconic 16-cylinder engine. In this way, Bugatti has brought forward the visually leaping wedge of the EB110 SS into a new millennium.

Instead of the graphic two-dimensional rear of the EB110 with its two pill-shaped tail lights, the Centodieci relies on a wide air outlet opening for more efficient engine thermals, bringing to life the flying tail light elements in graphic kinship with the EB110. It took several months to develop solutions to ensure a balanced temperature. As in the EB110, the engine is seen behind a transparent glass surface. The rear is formed into a single ventilation hole, characterised by the eight rear light elements, 2+2 exhaust tailpipes positioned on top of each other in a black matt anodised finish and a performance diffuser to improve downforce. The overhanging rear wing is permanently attached in the style of the original EB110 SS. This increases the downforce. Downforce is supported by the aerodynamic tailgate and a laminar flow-optimised rear window.

16-cylinder engine now delivers 1,600 hp

Instead of the V12, the Centodieci features the iconic 8.0-litre W16 engine with 1,176 kW/1,600 hp at 7,000 rpm. An additional air inlet in the area of the oil cooler reliably regulates the temperature of the performance-enhanced engine. The Centodieci sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, to 200 km/h in 6.1 seconds and to 300 km/h in 13.1 seconds; the top speed is electronically cut off at 380 km/h. “It’s not just the top speed that makes a hyper sports car. With the Centodieci, we once again demonstrate that design, quality and performance are just as important,” says Stephan Winkelmann. Compared to the  Chiron2, the Centodieci saves 20 kilograms of unladen weight. Among other things, a lightweight windscreen wiper and stabilisers made of carbon are used. This enables a sensational power-to-weight ratio of just 1.13 kilograms per horsepower. “The increased power and lower weight further improve performance — for even better acceleration at high speeds. The Centodieci offers our customers an improved power-to-weight ratio and even more dynamic handling,” says Stephan Winkelmann.

The new paint tone matches this. “With the communication paint finish in white, we’re demonstrating a powerful contrast with the La Voiture Noire — the black car just presented in March: two completely opposing yet related forces, like yin and yang,” says Stephan Winkelmann. He says that this was what continues to set Bugatti apart after 110 years.

Naturally, customers can have their special-edition Centodieci painted in the Bugatti colour of their choice. The small series, limited to ten vehicles (and already sold out) and handcrafted in Molsheim, France, will be delivered in two years at unit prices starting at EUR 8 million plus VAT. After its short period in Italy, Bugatti has now been back at its old headquarters in Molsheim, France, for almost 20 years. This is where Ettore Bugatti produced the very first vehicles that bore his name at the end of 1909.

On another note :

Bugatti’s  new $18.7 million hyper car was purchased by an anonymous buyer, making it the  most expensive  new car ever sold
  • Bugatti  has created and sold the  most expensive  new car ever.
  • The car, called La Voiture Noire, is being sold for $18.7 million after-tax to a secret buyer.

Berkshire Hathaway Owns More Than $91 Billion’s Worth of Apple Stock

Warren Buffet’s Apple stock portfolio continues to grow, rising to $ 90 billion.

The famous American investor Warren Buffet has always been considered the greatest value investor of all time and still increases his portfolio of shares related to Apple, which today would amount to as much as 90 billion dollars.

Nowadays we can say that Warren Buffet’s assets are made up of 43% of the capital of the shares of the US company Apple with Berkshire Hathaway which currently owns AAPL securities for a total value of 91.3 billion dollars. A considerable increase considering that in 2018 Apple stocks made up only a quarter of Berkshire Hathaway’s assets. This means that in the past two years Warren Buffet’s participation has definitely increased within Apple, and it is estimated that it has grown more during this period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The confidence that the American entrepreneur has in the famous Apple is based on many different factors. As we know, Warren Buffet has always been a supporter of companies that offer sustainable competitive advantages and has demonstrated this in all these years of activity. It’s no coincidence that Apple controls most of the US market linked to smartphones, according to the latest data from the notorious GlobalStats, the company should hold a 58% market share.

Another particularly important and certainly well-known information is that Warren Buffet has always supported and supported the CEO Tim Cook who took over the leadership of the Apple company after the death of Steve Jobs in 2011. As we know since then, Apple’s shares have undergone an especially important growth equal to 688% of value. Over the years, Apple has also very often taken loans in low-interest bonds and then repurchased shares in a very particular tactic but that the famous investor has always appreciated. And so according to the investor’s current estimates and investments in Apple, they currently amount to over 90 billion dollars.

Is MLB’s Extra-Innings Rule Going to Remain After the    2020 season?

0

When MLB announced they came to an agreement between the MLB Players Association on a shortened 60-game season for 2020 due to the pandemic, they also agreed on other temporary rule changes such as an extra-innings rule, universal DH’s, and 7-inning doubleheader’s.

MLB had already been experimenting with the extra-innings rule idea within Minor League Baseball in an effort to shorten the length of games.

Extra innings (or the 8th inning of a doubleheader game) now begin with a runner on 2nd base and no outs. Do you like it? Should it stick around beyond on the 2020 season? Here’s what Sports Illustrated, MLB Network and ESPN’s Tom Verducci had to say:

“The extra-inning rule is perfect for the season and designed to end games quickly during a pandemic. The fact that it will not be used in the postseason tells you it should not stick around. I like the rule this year because it creates strategic decisions, which is always good, especially at a time the universal DH continues baseball’s slide into dumbing down the game. But in normal times, extra-inning games come along so infrequently that the gimmick of placing a runner out there is not worth it. A good idea should be a good idea in the regular season and postseason – not create two versions of the game.”

I think the temporary placement of the extra-inning rule is a horrible idea. I “get it” and understand the purpose of the rule change during this unusual MLB season, but this rule in my opinion, lessons strategy and is simply a “quick-fix” to shorten the game.

Even though I really don’t play much chess, I understand the game and concept. I’ve never ran a 26-mile marathon, but I get the concept and endurance aspect.

Baseball is a combination of  a game of chess and running a 26-mile marathon and changing the rules of a MLB baseball game is like changing the rules of a chess match and a marathon.

What if a 26-mile marathon  was reduced to 18-miles. How would it compare to all the other marathons in history? Would it lesson the achievements? I think so.

By MLB instituting this extra-inning rule during the pandemic to shorten the span of the game is just like altering the pieces of a chess game and changing the sequences the pieces are allowed to move, and this would drastically impact the strategy of the match.

You don’t see the NBA & NHL altering game rules in an effort to “shorten their games.” Pandemic or not, baseball is baseball and has been played the same way for over 100-years. The game is perfect just the way it is, and Commissioner Rob Manfred & his office need to leave it alone and stop tampering with this great game & National Pastime.

No More Cespedes for the Rest of Us

0

File:Yoenis Cespedes talks to reporters on -WSMediaDay (22277754414).jpg

In what’s already been a bizarre start to the 2020 MLB season, the New York Mets made headlines, but not how they intend involving one of their star players, Yoenis Cespedes.

The 34-year old Cuban-born slugger apparently elected to opt-out of the remainder of the season and there seems to be controversy steaming over the manner he decided to inform the NY Mets organization.

Cespedes, who’s coming back from a 2-year lay-off & rehabbing due to injuries with his ankle and achilles heal, recently expressed disappointment with his reduced playing time. He’s not been shy about expressing himself and thinks the NY Mets organization were purposely limiting his game at-bats so his annual performance bonus wouldn’t kick-in, that’s tied to his 2020 prorated $7.1 million salary.

The Mets claim Cespedes did not inform the organization he was opting out of the season due to COVID-19, by going  MIA, and failed to return phone calls & texts, after not showing up for their game Sunday in Atlanta.

Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen alerted the media during the first inning Sunday that Cespedes did not show up to Truist Park in Atlanta and was not responding to the team’s attempts to contact him. The GM said the team sent security to Cespedes’ hotel room after informing the media of his no-show. There, his belongings were gone, as was Cespedes. This gave the Mets reason to believe his safety was not at risk.

Moments later, sometime toward the end of Sunday’s game, Van Wagenen learned from Cespedes’ agent that the slugger opted out, according to the timeline of events provided by the GM.

The controversy is there are two different stories floating around the Mets clubhouse.  The  first story, according to teammate Brandon Nimmo, details that Cespedes or his agent let the Mets know Sunday morning that he was opting out. The second story claims that Mets management; general manager Brodie Van Wagenen did not find out until the eighth inning of Sunday’s 4-0 loss to the Braves.

Nimmo is not sure which story he should trust.  “I honestly don’t know which one to believe and I’m not going to try and figure that one out,” Nimmo said. “Once we found out that he was gone, that’s really the last that we (the players) talked about it until a couple of hours after the game. We were just like, ‘Well, he’s probably on his ranch now or something.’”

Nimmo knew Cespedes wasn’t included in Sunday’s lineup and he noticed he wasn’t around the clubhouse during pregame warmups. About halfway through the game, he asked teammate Michael Conforto about Cespedes.

“I just asked Mike, ‘Is Ces gone?’ He said, ‘Yep.’ And that was the end of the conversation,” Nimmo said. “I wasn’t worried about his health because I knew this was a possibility that he could just walk away. So I was pretty sure that he was taken care of; I had just seen him yesterday. But yeah, that’s how I found out.”

Mets manager Luis Rojas said he first learned his star slugger opted out of the season after the final out Sunday. He was “very surprised” with Cespedes’ decision as, according to the skipper, the last time they spoke Saturday the conversation centered around the power-hitter’s increased playing time in left field.

While the Mets maintain they were essentially blindsided by the slugger’s decision, Nimmo was asked whether he had an inkling that Cespedes was previously considering not playing this year.

“I had only heard rumors,” Nimmo said. “I hadn’t talked to Ces personally. But other than that, I wasn’t extremely surprised mid-game when I asked Mike. I just was like, ‘Alright. We got a game to focus on so we might as well just try and win this one.’”

Regardless which version you want to believe, this a major blow to the Mets who were counting on Cespedes’ contributions this season.

In addition, this will surely tarnish Cespedes’ reputation as to how in decided to handle the situation, and it’s  almost certain we’ll never see Cespedes in a NY Mets uniform again.

Furthermore, the questions remain; did Cespedes really opt-out of the season due to his concerns of Coronavirus or was be crying over sour grapes and being a poor-sport and ghosted his teammates & organization, rather then handling his departure in a more professional manner?

Oven Toasty Roast Beef Sandwiches 15 Minute Dinner

0

If you have 15 minutes tonight, you have time to make this quick and easy weeknight dinner. It’s a hefty serving of thinly sliced roast beef, a little blue cheese, some onion and butter-grilled bread!

Dinner In 15 Roast Beef Sandwiches

Ingredients:
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 Tbl butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 Tbl balsamic vinegar
8 slices bread
1/2 lb roast beef, sliced
1/4 lb blue cheese (more or less depending on how much you like)
2 Tbl olive oil

Melt the butter in a large sauté pan. Add the onion and salt and cook on medium until tender and golden in places, about 10 minutes.

Reduce the heat to medium low and add the balsamic. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes to allow the balsamic to reduce.

Drizzle one side of each bread slice with the olive oil and on the un-oiled side add a few slices of roast beef and a good amount of blue cheese, top with a bit of the onions.

Cover with another piece of bread, then cook on a grill pan or a hot skillet until golden on each side.

Serve with a simple salad on the side.
