Alexei Navalny opposition leader arrest – CWEB.com
Alexei Navalny, who leads the opposition against Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been arrested along with many others in a wave of protests against corruption. Mass protests are expected today as #Navalny called people out on the streets of Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia to protest against government corruption. Most Russian communist parliament members have dismissed Alexei Navalny’s allegations as “fake news”, but one nosy Communist really wants to know what’s going on with all those palatial estates supposedly belonging to Prime Minister Medvedev.
TV pictures showed demonstrators chanting “Down with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin!”, “Russia without Putin!” and “Putin is a thief!”.
Correspondents say the marches appear to be the biggest since anti-government demonstrations in 2011/2012.
